Promoting smallholder farmers

Smallholder farmers make an important contribution to food security by producing around 80% of the world’s food (FAO, 2014)*.

Smallholder farmers make an important contribution to food security by producing around 80% of the world’s food (FAO, 2014)*. Bio Suisse supports smallholder farmers who make an important contribution to biodiverse, resilient and fair food production worldwide in order to strengthen a sustainable food system. One way of providing this support is to ensure that smallholder farmers have secure market access. In addition, Bio Suisse aims to take concrete measures to directly support smallholder groups. Various measures are currently being examined to provide concrete support to the smallholder farmers and groups.
